Howick coast KĀHUI AKO
Howick Coast Kāhui Ako comprises seven schools – two primary schools, three full primary schools, one intermediate and one secondary school. Four schools are considered urban, two semi-rural and one a rural country school. The pathways for students through the community is strengthening annually and will continue to do so as the community develops. The Kahui Ako has a proud history of adapting and changing to meet the needs of its growing community to ensure the ongoing educational success of all our learners.
The Howick Coast Kāhui ako is served by approximately 180 early childhood providers, which range widely in type, size and location. There are 11 early childhood centres who have formally applied to become part of this Kāhui ako as they have strong established pathways. In 2019, these ECE providers transitioned approximately 130 students into the Howick Coast Kāhui ako primary schools. All of the primary schools are beginning to develop strong connections and reciprocal relationships with their key ECE centres.
